Opening Prayer

SONG - Intercession

SONG- Sovereign God

Responsive Reading - Shortcomings Part 1 and 2

As we continue with this time of worship, we recognize this truth: that God is with us, and

has brought new life to humanity through Himself in Jesus. But we also recognize that as

Christians we resist the new life that Christ brings us. We often fail to live as Jesus taught

us to live, and do not allow the Spirit to work on our hearts.

And so let’s pray a prayer, followed by a time for individual confession.

I give you praise, oh God,

that I see the worst of my heart as well as

the best of it,

that I can sorrow for those sins that carry me

away from You,

that it is Your deep and dear mercy to discipline

so that I may return, pray, and live.

My sin is to look on my faults and be discouraged,

or to look on my good and be puffed up.

I fall short of Your glory every day by spending

hours unprofitably,

by thinking that the things I do can prove my worth,

But what I do is not done because of love for You,

or compassion for those around me.

In the end, all I do is tainted with selfish desperation or pride.

For my sin is that I do not trust You with my whole life;

I forget to submit to Your will, and fail to be

quiet there.

I forget that Christ is my reward,

and that with Him all is being made new.

Forgive me, and remind me always

that You hate sin because it separates me from You,

and that Christ’s death and resurrection

is why I can come before You without shame.

Let’s confess our sin.

Here this assurance from God’s word:

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

Scripture Reading

SONG - King of My Heart

Responsive Reading - Offering 14

All good things come from you, O God,

and with gratitude we return to you what is

You created all that is, and with love formed us

in your image.

When our love failed, your love remained steadfast.

You gave your only Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior.

All that we are, and all that we have, has been entrusted to us by You.

And so, in gratitude for all your gifts,

we offer you ourselves, and all that we have,

in union with Christ’s offering for us.

By your Holy Spirit make us one with Christ,

one with each other, and one in ministry to all

the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior.
