SONG - Jesus Lover of My Soul
SONG- I Know Who I Am
Confession - Longing After God
VoV – Longing After God (abridged and modified)
My dear Lord, Your Spirit has shown us that what we truly need and
desire is You,
nothing but holiness,
nothing but union with Your will.
My soul longs for communion with You,
for freedom from my sin within,
especially spiritual pride that says “I do not need You.”
How precious it is to have this imperfect glimpse of the mystery of
godliness, of true holiness!
What a blessedness to be like You as much as it is possible for a creature
to be like its creator!
Lord, give me more of Your likeness; enlarge my soul to contain fullness
of holiness; engage me to live more for You in this world.
Help me to be less pleased with my spiritual experiences, and when I
feel at ease after intimate moments with You, teach me it is far too little
that I know and do.
Blessed Lord, let me climb up near to You,
to long, plead, and wrestle with You,
and deeply desire deliverance from the sin that causes me to
neglect You and those in my life and family,
for my heart is wandering and lifeless,
and my soul mourns because I sometimes feel I cannot escape
from my sin.
Wrap my life in divine love, and keep me ever desiring You, always
humble and resigned to Your will, more fixed on You, that I may be more
able to love, and willing to suffer for Your name. Amen.
SONG- Holy Spirit
SONG - O Come to The Altar
Responsive Reading- Offering - Penitence v.2 Shorter
O Lord of grace,
Let us never forget
that we have an eternal calling to love, honor
and obey You in all we are, and with all we have;
You are infinitely worthy of this.
Melt our hearts, heal our backslidings,
and open up a relationship based on love.
Let the fire of Your compassion warm our hearts,
and the outpourings of Your Spirit fill our souls,
so that we can begin to see our depravity,
and turn away from who we have become.
Apply to our hearts the merits of Christ’s atoning blood whenever we sin, and remind us of our new identity in You.
Draw us away from evil,
Use these gifts and our lives to
conquer our desire to worship this world,
and make us ready for our departure,
awakened by Your sacrificial love.
SONG- Be Thou My Vision
