Welcome to our series of posts in which we recap songs sung and liturgy spoken at City On A Hill Church in Brookline/Boston.

For a link to a Spotify list of songs we've sung and what we'll be singing each week, see the bottom of this post. Songs not available on Spotify will linked within the post.

CTW Psalm 27 Pt1 (Part 1, congregational)

The Lord is our light and our salvation;
    whom shall we fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of our life;
    of whom shall we be afraid?

Though an army encamp against us,
    our hearts shall not fear;
though war arise against us,
    yet we will be confident.

One thing have we asked, O Lord,
    One thing do we seek:

that we may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all of our days,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
    in the new heavens and the new earth.

For he has hidden us in the shelter of Christ
    in the day of trouble;
he has brought us under the cover of his righteousness;
    he has lifted us high upon the rock of Himself.

And we, His bride, offer sacrifices

   with shouts of joy;
We sing and make melody to the Lord.

CTW Psalm 27 Pt2 (Part 2, individual)

Part 2

But hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
    be gracious to me and answer me!

You have said, “Seek my face.”
My heart says to you,
    “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”
     Hide not your face from me.

Holy Spirit, bring comfort.

For others have forsaken me,

but the Lord will take me in.

For others have misunderstood me,

but the Lord understands.

For others have hurt and sinned against me,

but the Lord will heal my wounds.

Teach us your way, O Lord,
    and lead us on a level path.

 We believe that we will look upon the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living!

Wait for the Lord, brothers and sisters;
    be strong, and let your heart take courage;
    wait for the Lord!

SONG- O Praise The Name (Anastasis)

Offering - VoV - The Holy Spirit

Lord Jesus,

We pray not so much for blessings as for

      the Spirit himself,

  because too often we believe He is absent,

  and act by our own power instead.

Give us not weak desires but the power of

    His presence,

  for this is the surest way to live as You intended.

When we feel our lack of You,

  bring life and faith,

  give us strength to navigate darkness,

  protect us from Satan and

  may we settle for nothing less than the streams of living water

  that overflow from You, oh Spirit of life.

Teach us then what to do.

Humble us.  Stir up our hearts with affection for You.

Let us meditate upon Your word.

Let us seek Your presence in our daily lives

    and be satisfied with nothing less.

Show us that when we cannot feel You,

You are no less close.

Give us assurance

    that our sin will not separate me from You

    that Your forgiveness is sure

    that You long to fill us with joy by following Your commands

Who we are and what we have are all before you.

Teach us, oh God, to find and know fullness by the Spirit,

  only in Jesus. Amen.
