Community Group Study Guide 3.30.15

START WITH PRAYER

Let’s pray for Christ’s Hope in Tanzania:
•    Guidance and support for leaders in the organization and in Tanzania
•    Provide for the orphans and help the team care for them medically when sick or have AIDS
•    That the orphans would come to know Christ
•    That God would help researchers and doctors find a cure for AIDS and help stop the spread of AIDS especially in Africa

CONVERSATION STARTER

If your house is burning down and you can only save three items, what would you try to rescue?

PASSAGE DISCUSSION

(Remember: Your goal is good discussion, not just to get through all the questions. Choose the best, leave the rest.)

Read 1 Peter 3:8-22

UNDERSTAND THE WORD

List and describe the characteristics Peter lays out for Christian community. (v. 8-9)

How are we called to honor Christ in the midst of persecution? (v. 13-17)

What keeps the ears of God closed off to the prayers of humanity? Why do you think this is? (v.10-12)

How does Peter describe the Gospel message in v.18?

How does baptism for us relate to the 8 family members of Noah “brought safely through the water?” (v.20)

APPLY THE WORD (select 1 question beforehand to use in guy/girl time)

How are you tempted to repay evil for evil instead of good for evil?

In what ways are you seeking to bless people around you?

How does the truth of Jesus’ resurrection offer hope in your suffering?

Is anyone willing to share about how they might be suffering?  Can we pray for you?

MEN AND WOMEN TIME
(We normally will split into groups of men and women for more in depth sharing and prayer at the end. Use one of the questions from the application section selected beforehand.)
