This week in CoaH Kids

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The the CoaH Kids Blog posts are designed to give you an overview of what your kid(s) learned on Sunday mornings. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to email me at mollie@coahchurch.org.

Kids Worship: Upcoming dates - June 11th. Once a month we are going to ask that you take your children into the larger gathering and sing together as a family after you've checked them into CoaH Kids. Then they will be dismissed with their teachers for the regular CoaH Kids program.

Family Worship Sunday: Mark your calendars, our next Family Worship Sunday is June 25th at both 9am & 11am services. On Family Worship Sundays your kids (Pre-K through 6th grade) will be taking a break from their regular CoaH Kids curriculum and joining everyone in the larger gathering for worship.

We regularly have Family Worship Sunday to remind you as parents that you are the primary disciple-maker of your children. You have the opportunity to model worship for your kids as we do in the larger gathering. We also think this is a great opportunity for the larger church body to identify our families and celebrate our children as part of the church.  Read about Family Worship Sunday here.

Kids' Summer Adventure: Join us for Kids' Summer Adventure July 24-28, 2017. During this fun week of games, songs, snack and bible lessons your kids will uncover the Truth about who God is! Register here.

PRE-K - 5TH GRADE

This Week's Story is from: "What's in the Bible?" - Justification, Faith & Grace

Summary: For the next few weeks your children will be learning about how Paul continued to share the Gospel by writing letters to the churches he had planted on his missionary journeys. Here's a short clip to highlight what we'll be covering using the "What's in the Bible?" curriculum. Today the children learned about justification, grace and faith, and discovered how they can put the Good News into action.

Paul’s letters are filled with ideas on how to live and follow Jesus. Paul wrote letters to the people to remind them how followers of Jesus were supposed to live.

Today, we learned that “justified by grace through faith” was REALLY important to Paul because in some of the churches, Jewish Christians were telling Gentile Christians that they had to follow all the Jewish laws before they were REALLY righteous.

Paul says, “No!” Those laws CAN’T make you righteous, because NO ONE can keep them! The ONLY thing that can make us righteous is what Jesus did on the cross!

Family Activity:  Turn to each other and say, “We are justified by grace through faith.”

SAY to your child(ren) Today, you learned that “justified by grace through faith” was REALLY important to Paul because in some of the churches, Jewish Christians were telling Gentile Christians that they had to follow all the Jewish laws before they were REALLY righteous.

Paul says, “No!” Those laws CAN’T make you righteous, because NO ONE can keep them! The ONLY thing that can make us righteous is what Jesus did on the cross!

SAY to your child(ren) Do you ever feel like it’s hard to make all the right choices? To do everything perfectly?

SAY to your child(ren) Me too! It’s hard to always tell the truth, and love my friends, and show love to my neighbors. God’s love through Jesus changes us to want to do what’s right. We always remember, though, that doing what’s right can’t makeus righteous. Only what Jesus did on the cross can!

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

June Memory Verse: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and they are safe.” Proverbs 18:10

June Theme: God knows everything! (1 Kings 17:1-6)

From the parent take-home page:  Make statements comparing your knowledge to God's knowledge. For example, "I don't know how to make it rain. God knows! God knows everything!"

Ask your child about things he doesn't know. Then tell him that God knows everything. For example, "Do you know that person's name? God knows. God knows everything."

Talk about Elijah. Remind your child that Elijah didn't know how to find water.  Elijah didn't know how to find food. God knew how to find food and water.

Pray: Praise God that He knows everything!
